The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing projects within the decided-upon budget, timeline, and scope. They will also effectively monitor and present project updates to relevant stakeholders, clients, or project team members.

Position Requirements: Decommissioning-related health physics activities including planning, conducting, evaluating, and documenting final status radiological surveys for demonstrating compliance with dose or risk-based regulations or standards; oversight of radiological field projects.

Position Location: Home Office or Oak Ridge, TN/San Diego, CA. Must be able to travel to temporary project locations of varying durations.

Position Summary: Philotechnics maintains over 40 years’ experience in radioactive material disposal and radiological decommissioning services. We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team to provide oversight and project support of decommissioning related field projects in a variety of environments from commercial client laboratory settings under Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual protocols to government owned facilities under agency specific requirements. Candidate will support proposal, plans, and reports preparation, and provide client and regulatory interface as needed. Successful candidate may be required to support field projects related radioactive material packaging requirements to maintain compliance with waste acceptance and landfill disposal requirements.

Position Qualifications & Experience Needed:
  • Travel is required.
  • Must have a minimum of 10+ years of experience in radiological site characterization and remediation under MARSSIM and other applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Must have 5+ years of Project Management experience with managing large-scale and complex field sites involving radiological, hazardous and mixed wastes.
  • Must be knowledgeable of NRC, agreement state and other related environmental regulations.
  • Must have excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Experience packaging, shipping and transportation requirements for radioactive and mixed waste materials, and State of California decommissioning and Radioactive Materials License terminations experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor degree in Health Physics related field or other closely related environmental field is preferred.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training is a plus; PMP certification is a plus; Work experience at US Navy and Department of Energy facilities a plus.
